Research Assistant (RA-01May2006)
The Department of Computing and Information Sciences at Kansas State University is seeking applications for the position of Research Assistant. The successful applicant must have a B.S or equivalent in Computer Science (or related field) and experience building commercial quality tools with Eclipse and Java. Responsibilities involve working with members of the Department's SAnToS laboratory in the development of extensions to existing tools. Specific activities include participating in research-group meetings, supervising research students, support of users, and producing commercial-quality tools.
Responsibilities
- Organize software development environment. This includes configuration management, bug tracking, release scheduling and management, regression testing, and automated build systems.
- Design and implementation of extensions to Bogor which is written in Java and uses the Eclipse plugin API.
- Manage programming team through planning and scheduling, day-to-day management of undergrad/grad programmers, and reporting to project directors.
- Interact and support industry partners. This includes writing documentation as well as fostering relationships through email, phone, and in-person conversations.
Qualifications

- Ability to provide support to internal and external users and developers through written and oral communication (necessary)
- Experience with Eclipse (necessary)
- Significant experience with the Java programming language (necessary)
- Experience with Bogor and/or other model-checkers (necessary)
- Experience in a research environment (preferred)
- Experience building robust, commercial-quality software (preferred)
- Experience with the implementation of compilers with preference to ANTLR (preferred)
- Eclipse plugin development (preferred)
- Capable of leading and directing the work of others (preferred)
- Familiar with specification and verification of software (preferred)
- Experience with C#, .Net, and Mono (preferred)
Timeline

Wages
This is a full-time, unclassified position (12-month appointment renewable based on available funding). Salary range is $35,000-$45,000 depending on the qualifications.
