Job Postings
Below you will find current job postings that are available in the SAnToS Laboratory. You should also take note of the reasons to work in the SAnToS Lab and the tips in getting a job with us.
Reasons to Work in the SAnToS Lab
Here are just a few reasons why you should want to work in the SAnToS Lab.
- Opportunity to create meaningful software used by real users including researchers at industry labs and other academic institutions.
- Opportunity for long-term employment either as a full-time employee or as a GRA while obtaining an advanced degree. We like to keep the best and the brightest people on our research team.
- Opportunity to interact with our industry partners (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Rockwell-Collins, and Fujitsu) and with our government partners (e.g., NASA and the FDA). This might be a good stepping stone into internships or even a career.
- Opportunity to interact with our academic partners (e.g., University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Queens University, and BYU). This might be a good way to get your foot in the door for graduate school at other universities.
- Ability to earn competitive pay rates. We are one of the best paid opportunities on campus.

Tips
- When applying, make sure to mention which job you are applying for in your cover letter.
- It is best to tailor your cover letter and resume to meet the job requirements. Sometimes your relevant experience is not obvious.
- If you are applying for a web developer or web designer position, it would be good to provide samples of your work. Think hard about this before providing it since we will judge it based on style and content. In other words, don't point us to your blog that contains rants about how much you hate the CIS department and all of it's classes and faculty.
- When providing samples of your work, it would be best to provide them in digital form so that we can easily share your work with all interested parties. We like to get URLs so we don't have to email large documents to one another. Here is a good example of a portfolio in digital (web) form (Ben was a graphic designer in the lab).
- If someone referred you to a position please specify that in your cover letter.
- All positions in the lab require good written and oral communication skills. Don't send us application materials that are unprofessional or otherwise hard to read. Find out how to write a cover letter and resume before submitting them to us.
- When providing references, it is best to point us to people that will give you glowing praise. You should also ask if they are willing to be a reference so that when we contact them it is not a complete surprise.
